What Must We Do To Be Saved from our sin, our sins and the consequences of our lost condition before a holy God? We must take God at his word and believe the Glorious Gospel of the Grace of God. Paul, the apostle of the Gentiles, makes that so clear when he writes:
“Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas, then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.”
1 Corinthians 15:1-9
Our sin and our sins condemn us before a holy and righteous God. Eternal damnation and separation from God will be the sure consequence for every unredeemed sinner some day. Only salvation according to God’s free offer of abundant grace through the death of our Lord Jesus can save us. And that is only through God’s grace and is in no way dependent upon our works:
“Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” Romans 4:4-5
As clearly written in the Apostle’s statement above, if you will believe on the Lord Jesus Christ as outlined there, you will be saved. Believe God. His Word is Truth. Believe what He has said:
“Yea, let God be true, but every man a liar.” Romans 3:4
